Guild Care is looking for an enthusiastic Volunteering Development Co-Ordinator to help support the expansion of our 13 Charity shops. We are looking for an individual who can use their own initiative to drive forwards a large recruitment project and training program.

What is the role?

To be responsible for coordinating volunteer recruitment for retail and transport, providing learning activities and providing volunteer management advice and guidance to staff who work with volunteers.
To establish positive relationships with volunteers to ensure they have a fulfilling volunteer experience. Attaining feedback and ensuring there is an adequate space for volunteers to be heard.
Meet regularly with the Service Managers to discuss their needs and then proactively matching volunteers to the Service establishing an adequate number of volunteers to run the services effectively.
To work with the Volunteer Manager and HR Director to support and implement the Volunteer Strategy across the charity.

Main Duties:

• To respond to all Retail and Transport volunteer enquiries, interviewing and making referrals to the appropriate service which will result in an increased number of volunteers
• To audit volunteer recruitment practices, ensuring managers are completing all relevant processes in a timely fashion.
• To have an approachable listening style involving volunteers in decision making and providing guidance where needed.
• To promote volunteer involvement across Guild Care ensuring that the views of volunteers are heard.
• To address problems (including performance issues) constructively and make appropriate decisions.
• To deliver appropriate induction training and ensure that volunteers attend.
• To support on the production and delivery of Volunteer Management training to Service Managers
• To maintain a training matrix for volunteers ensuring all relevant Health and Safety training is completed and evidenced.
• To maintain an accurate volunteer data base
• To produce ad hoc reports on volunteer activity as requested
• To ensure volunteers are aware of all the relevant Guild Care policies that affect them.
• To maintain regular communication with volunteers.
• To support in hosting an annual social event to celebrate our volunteers.
• To support Guild Care initiatives where Volunteers may be recruited.
• To liaise with the Volunteer Bureau and other volunteering agencies, including the local Colleges, to promote Guild Care as an organisation who actively engage with volunteering.
• To be able to attend out of hours events to promote volunteering and Guild Care.
• To be a contact point for schools and colleges for work experience.


What kind of person are we looking for?

Essential candidate criteria:
• Experience of recruiting and/ or supervising volunteers.
• Development of training programs, recruitment strategies, and procedures.
• Good IT and Administration skills
• Good time management and organisational skills
• A flexible team player
• Ability to build and maintain good working relationships
• The post holder must be able to provide a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Check

Desirable candidate criteria:
• CIPD or equivalent qualification
• Experience of working within HR or Recruitment
• Experience of databases
• Experience of working in the voluntary sector
• Experience of working with individuals with Learning Disabilities
• A car driver with access to a vehicle for business purposes, to attend events
